As LED lighting leads the charge to revolutionizing the lighting industry, “how do you know if you are buying quality instead of cheap novelty junk?”  If you want to get the most for your money, then there are three things you must be aware of when you make your LED lighting purchase.

First and foremost, you should make sure you select an LED Light that has been Underwriters Laboratories (UL) approved.  Secondly, your LED light selection should have the Energy Star rating.  Both of these organizations run the products through various tests to ensure they are safe, meet specific standards, and are energy efficient.

Finally, don’t trust the manufacturer’s claims.  You should request results from any independent testing results that would back the claims of the manufacturer.

Any company that has met these three conditions will ensure you are making a quality purchase that you will enjoy for years to come.

Gallium Based LED Lighting – “A No Brainer”

With today’s new high efficiency lighting fixtures with gallium technology, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallium), is there any reason why anyone would continue to use incandescent or florescent lights?  The Green community quickly embraced gallium based LED lighting a few years ago due to the fact that LED lights do not contain mercury, unlike fluorescent lamps (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury poisoning#Fluorescent lamps).

But now that the cost of LED down-lighting continues to improve as does the performance, LED lighting is ready for “prime time”.  As more LED lighting products hit the market this coming year, there does not seem to be any justification to continue installing incandescent or florescent fixtures.

Commercial LED fixtures offer better color control, increased life expectancy, unsurpassed energy efficiency, in aesthetically pleasing designs that are not possible with traditional lighting technologies developed in the 1800s and 1900s.

With international attention given to energy efficient products many local, state, and federal governments are offering compelling incentives (http://www.grants.gov) to help businesses and residents become more environmentally, energy responsible. It is no wonder that even financial professionals are giving consideration to tight budgets by installing energy efficient, maintenance free gallium based LED down-lights.  Attractive tax incentives, available grant funds, significant energy savings, eliminated maintenance costs, offers the financial community with solutions to meet critical budget constraints. As high performance gallium based LED technology continues to flood the market; it is simply “A no Brainer”.
